IT'S THAT TIME OF YEAR . . . UGH

Mom was cleaning out the garage yesterday, sweeping and getting the straw out, where the dogs wintered (but not to worry, we gave them some old big couch pillow to sleep on). Well, we were in and out and in and out all day. Well, Mom came out of the garage and Link was kind of guarding something. It was a black snake. The freaking dogs, who were laying right there, had no clue for several minutes. Then, when Link decided against trying to make prey of the snake and it started for the sidewalk, Emily saw it. Well, after her barking and following it, it slithered into the flower bed, right beside the door. As if that wasn't bad enough, then it went underneath the concrete pad of the breezeway where there is a little washed out place. (our toads live there, so we have never filled it in). So, now I have to be careful when I walk outside, that I am not *surprised* by our new mouse catcher. What was insightful on my part was that I was looking for snakes yesterday when I was around front, coming out of the basement, thinking that they'll be moving around since it was warm . . .
