HOME ALONE . . .

Charleigh-Anne and I are home alone for the first time in a long time. I guess we will have to get back into the swing of things. Joey starts his Junior year today and was a little excited this morning although he wouldn't admit it. I know that he was though.

His alarm went off at 5:30am (usually, he doesn't want us to "bother" him until 6am . . . he normally does not even set an alarm) I went and awoke him at 5:50 and he popped right up, said, "I've been up since 5:30!" I said "I know! I have up since 3:30 and heard your alarm!" {Mom had an update at work and had to be there at 4am and I woke up when she was getting ready and couldn't go back to sleep}

Anyhow, he was ready in a matter of minutes and at 6:10 was ready to go to the bus stop, actually saying that I might as well take him up there . . . the bus doesn't get there until 6:30. LOL The teenager in him might not admit that he was excited but the Mom in me knows better!

School is going okay so far . . . of course, it's only been a days. LOL I am going out to the college tomorrow evening to find out whether I can enroll in the math class. I have to get instructor approval.

My cousin is in visiting from CA . . . this is the first time I had seen her since before Joey was born. Her aunt is with her and they have had a tight schedule with not much time for visiting. They were finally able to make it out yesterday afternoon and stayed for a couple of hours. It was good reminicing about our families and looking at Grandma's old photo albums. Many things had changed but there were still things that were in the same spots . . . the outhouse, the well, the cellar and Grandma's "rocks", like the one where the swing used to be. Anyhow, we had a nice visit and it was good to see her.

Our friend Dan's guy won the best actor nod for saving the world from terrorists. Jack Bauer, er, I mean Keifer Sutherland, finally won an Emmy after 9 nominations. Denis Leary probably should have won but we'll concede . . . this year.

The prayers of thousands of people worldwide were answered when Fox News' Steve Centanni and Olaf Wigg were release by their captors. Of course, this was after the video was released of them "converting" to Islam . . . . at gunpoint. One of the first things that Steve said was that he hoped that the incident woiuld not deter other journalists from coming to the region to report on the plights and struggles of the Palestinian people. He was also thankful that he was alive. These things were not said at gunpoint.

Anyhow, check for photos at my "other" blog . . . it also has links to friends' photos, some of which are excellent . . . .

I forgot about Jack winning that award as well. 24 is truly awesome and should be required viewing. I elaborate on these things when I write grammar tests... such is one of the perks of being a teacher (you get to inundate people with your views (I make sure all of mine are meaningless entertainment and sports and travel and culture as opposed to politics - i don't feel i should preach that stuff - esp. to people who would accept or argue on principle vs knowledge).

alas, i think nap time is calling. have a good 1.
