BABIES, MOVING AND MORE
We visited some of our family in Ohio last week and had a lot of fun. This was the first time that they had seen Charleigh-Anne and she was a pretty good baby while we were there. She traveled REALLY well for a 2 1/2 hour trip each way. The edited photos from the trip are here.My cousin Sue had a grandbaby on Monday July 17th. That was her Dad's, my Uncle Jerry's birthday, which is also my son Joey's birthday, who turned 16 on Monday. My Uncle Jerry died about 1 1/2 years before Joey was born and now, sixteen years later, his oldest daughter's first grandbaby was born on his birthday too! That is really nice.
I am still working on getting moved back home. Of course, most of my things are there but in the basement. We cleaned the carpets in the downstairs on Friday . . . well, okay, Mom cleaned them. I mowed and worked on the other flower beds that hadn't been even touched yet. Made some "steps" for morning glories that are coming up. I also started on "weeding" around the house and behind the house and other areas that needed attention. I can't use the weedeater, so I am (GASP!) using weed killer. Speaking of flower beds, I also have been limestone hunting! I came back with quite a bit. I still don't know what happened to all of mine. It had rained for a couple of days and some of them I just got out of the road, please don't tell the state, LOL. Others I got from ledges of limestone, where they had broken apart and were laying beside the road. So, the three flower beds next to the house are all cleaned out, some of them with a plant or two and they are freshly mulched and the one that is on the right side of the porch, where there is no sidewalk, it is lined with limestone once again. I still have to do the bed in front of the 'zebo but I will get it soon.
I have a hosta plant that was at the end of my Grandma's porch that came back up in the middle of my yard after we had built (and bulldozed the yard) the house. It has been suffering because it gets a lot of sun . . . I took some of it and planted on MY porch corner a few years ago. We had mowed over it twice this year (it's coming back though) and I put a shepard's hook there so we wouldn't do THAT again and planted some mimosa trees next to it. I had done this a few years back but they didn't make it. This time they will. I have offically tractor-proofed the site with (guesses???) limestone.
I painted my grandparents' hand pump and did something different this time. It is BLUE. It was always green I think and the last time I painted it, 7 years ago, I painted it green. Anyhow, it looks pretty. Now I need to paint the well cover but I don't know how that will work. That's for a later day though.
I fixed (well, repaired, kinda . . .)the screen door by disassembling the matching broken door from the side of the house and using the screen from it and at least the flies are not coming in. I saved the hardware from it too and need to do a few more things, like exchange the spring hinges and restain it. It has some "cosmetic" touches that need done too, like covering where I stapled the screen in but I have the pieces off the old door for that too.
We moved a sofa and chair from Joey's "attic" and Mom donated her TV from her bedroom and we have it on the computer desk until we find my TV downstairs. Bridgette is coming shortly to help move a coffee table and end tables upstairs if we can get to them in the basement. I know one of them is accessible. Slowly but surely it is coming together.
So, you can see why I haven't had much time to blog and I am sure that you have missed me. LOL My posts will be sort of infrequent until I get all this stuff done. Then hopefully, I will have more time to sit at Mom's house. I will be over here anyway while doing my schoolwork this semester if I can get those two classes online.
