OH WE WENT TO ELKINS

Charleigh Anne finally got to meet the old crew, Kim and Alan and the not so younger crew anymore, well, just half, Nicole, plus her daughter and hubby and Alan's mother "other grandma here", Kitty. We had a great time. Natasha traveled with us, Charleigh Anne is quite the traveler and I was impressed with her traveling patience.

Alan and Kim treated us all to a mexican dinner at Humberto's (sp)!?!? delicious. awesome food and atmosphere.

We stayed the night and although it rained, had a fire in their pit out behind the house and in the morning, despite the downpour, it was still burning due to the fine cherry wood we had. ;o) ty punkin. and alan.

left the following day, regrettably, though, not for the kiddoes, for Smoke Hole Caverns awaited us that day along with the senanic drive over three mountain to get to the Mouth of Seneca, were a major portion of Seneca Rocks outcropping lies, a mecca for hikers and climbers in the area. The Genderame, which is an area of rock that does not get sheared off by the passing glacier and remains intact between two pinnicles, standing alone and sheared, named the Sentinal at Seneca was damaged by floods in 1985 and later that year collapsed. The link above is a private link, with nice photos and info of the area, better than I can provide. Click on the photos for larger images, the first contains the no longer standing Sentinal.

We hiked back the trail as we had a 12 or so mile drive to Smoke Hole and 45 minutes so across the North Fork South Branch Potomac River we drive and back a little road I know now is Roy Gap Rd and we stopped off at a pull off and went for a walk.

Spending too much time, we hustled back and drove swiftly along the gentle curving road to Smoke Hole just in the nick of time to buy a magnet and a ring that Charleigh Anne promptly lost the day I gave it to her the Monday we returned.

She did great on the tour, wasn't bored. The guide called her his "little trooper" and she said beaming "i a trooper?" and it thrilled her tho, she had not a clue what he was talking about. Supposed to be 45 minutes, more like an hour. extremely frustrated at this moment tho that photos won't upload, i am out of water for the gazillionith time this past two months, can't clean bird feeders, dishes, laundry . . . . told K to go at 7:30 . . . . AM yesterday.
