FREEDOM OF PRESS
does not mean freedom to malipulate, mislead or LIE to the public. Don't get me wrong . . . "Photoshopped" photos (which has in the last week become a term synonomous with "manipulated" photos . . . kinda the same play on words has existed for years when someone says they are going to make a Xerox instead of a copy) have existed for many years . . .only back in the day, it happened in the darkrooms of expert developers instead of on the computers of inept, manipulative photographers.Sad is the day when we must scrutinize all the photos that we see on news broadcasts, newspapers and websites of the mainstream media to see if they have been altered as the media doesn't seem to subject any of their "stringers", reporters or photographers to any scrutiny to upholding any truth to the submitted material. It seems that all the mainsteam keep purporting stories that we can't trust our government, our kids, big business, doctors, lawyers and anything else "bad" out there in the world and here it is the mainstream media that we cannot trust.
It is not just the one Reuters photo that is getting attention . . . the blogs out there have found over a dozen in just the past few days. Here is a link to Michelle Malkin's blog and she has compiled several of the "busts" into one post. . . .
"Fauxtography" alert: NYTimes and USNews;plus Time and Reuters' Issam Kobeisi from Michelle Malkin's blog.

I saw that on Fox as well. They were really after the Reuters guys and to me, it comes down to 2 things:
A) Reuters is just too dumb / naive / ignorant to care / know / check to see if the pictures were fakedd.
B) Reuters is just really happy to see pictures that take on this anti war bias.
C) Reuters knew they were fakes and acted accordingly.
In light of faked videos as well, this seems to be a common theme in the news and it's scary. It's one thing to editorialize and say you're doing it. It's another thing to load and manipulate the news.
Leni Reifenstahl would be proud.
